As I was thinking about the value, I want to bring to the women I serve the words self-acceptance kept coming into the forefront of my mind. For the past two years I've resonated with the message of making yourself a priority first so you can take care of those who depend on you best. And I still believe that to be a fact. You cannot be your best if you always put yourself in the backseat. But it goes further than that. It goes deeper than that. It has to.
Because you will never make yourself a priority if you don't feel that you are worth it. You will never make yourself a priority if you are looking over your shoulder at what other people might be thinking or saying about you. You will never make yourself a priority if you don't believe that you are enough. And that. That my loves is the missing ingredient.
You need to believe in the core of your being. In your gut. In your mind. In your heart. And in your soul that you deserve to be in love with who you are. What happened in the past doesn't matter. What someone else said to you or about you doesn't matter. ONLY YOU TRULY AND GENUINELY KNOW WHO YOU ARE. And it's not up to you to justify or defend or have to accept what anyone else says, feels, or thinks. We are in charge of our own emotions, thoughts, and feelings.
And to that point, as difficult as it may be, when you do encounter someone who sees you differently than you see yourself; my big ask is that you stop and take a moment to pray for them. To pray for your own understanding and compassion for whatever it is they are going through right now. To shield their negativity with your love. Because that's all you really can do is to continue to live your life with an abundance of love.
What lights you up? What makes you smile? What brings you joy? What gives you energy? What makes you want to get up every day and smile at the person looking back at you in the mirror? Find that person. Be that person. And fall in love with every ounce of who you are.
