The shortest full sentence.

Are you a people pleaser? Do you automatically say yes to every request and opportunity that is tossed your way? Do you hate to say the word No?

I find this can be an issue with a lot of women. We're so used to being an amazing multi-tasker taking care of the kids, the pets, the carpool, the volunteering, the home, the lunches and dinners, vacation planning and oh so much more! But when my love is the last time, you sat down to think about what is best for you?

Last post I shared my word for the year - DREAM. Part of living into that word means taking care of what is best for me. And part of that for me means not giving a response immediately in the moment. I'm working really hard to give myself a 24-hour grace period before I commit or choose not to. Because my natural inclination is to always say yes. Someone asks for help - I say yes. Someone needs a favor - I say yes. No one volunteers to take on the assignment - I say yes. There's a new training opportunity that is free - I say yes. I find myself saying yes, ALL THE TIME and regretting that decision later.

If I want to build a life, I dream of that means filling it with all of the things that are important to me. All of the things that make me happy. All of the things that fill my soul. And so, I'm embracing the word No. Re-phrase that. I'm embracing the sentence No. Nothing needs to follow it. Nothing needs to be added to justify my decision because it's the right decision for me. The people who matter will accept it. And those that don't. Well, that's a good lesson for me to learn to.
