Staying in Love with your Business

One of the best lessons I ever learned was listen to your gut. Your intuition is your ally and your best friend. Don't ignore the nudges, the feelings, or the whispers.

As a business owner it's so easy to get consumed by the day-to-day activities. It's easy to keep going and do just one more thing before you shut down for the night. It's easy to say yes to every opportunity that comes along even when it doesn't fit or doesn't feel right to you. Sometimes we get so fearful of missing out we simply say yes to avoid the "what if" scenario playing out in our minds.

Knowing this how do you stay in love with your business? How do you avoid the burnout? How do you appreciate and enjoy and are grateful for the everyday mundane tasks that need to get done to keep your business working?

STOP.

Take a break.

Remember your why.

This may sound counterintuitive. Trust me. I used to think so too. I promise you; it is not.

As a child when you were offered a new food you hadn't tried before there was a good chance you weren't going to like it. But how about now as an adult? Are there foods you simply cannot imagine not eating that you detested as a child? People change. Your priorities shift. Your wants and desires for your life mature. Who you were six-months ago could easily be very different than who you are now. What matters most is that you acknowledge that and live your life in such a way that you can honor that person. When you are accepting yourself for who you are and living your life out loud to be that person, everything else will fall into place.

When was the last time you stopped? Took a break? Re-examined your why? Take some time over the next few days to do that. Look deep. Challenge each thought until there are no more words. Then you know you've reached the real why. You got this. I believe in you.
